Evolutions is a collection of songs that were recorded with Prophet 5, Prophet Rev2, guitar, bass, Fender Rhodes, Mellotron, Eurorack modular synth, piano, pedalboard, and Akai MPC Live and MPC One used as an instrument and master clock CV / MIDI device to control the other instruments. Most of the tracking was done directly to the MPC. Ableton Live was used as a final production instrument, mixing and mastering tool. Live drums on “The Rainbow’s Edge” performed by the inimitable Trent Moorman.

The songs were mixed and mastered on a last-minute family trip to where I grew up in Nebraska, to help my mom move across the state, while I was coming down with Covid. The album is called Evolutions because of the relatively new recording process I’ve been using that feels to be taking shape and showing nice results, as well as my trip back to Nebraska, in which I realized I was pulling the plug on the connection to the town I grew up in.
